3d Art and Animation by Stephen Dowdy

About Me

My name is Stephen Dowdy. I was born in Britain in 1972, and have had an artistic talent since very young. Educated at Loughborough Grammar School I left with A-levels in Art and Design, Maths and Physics. An interest in science led me to study Astronomy and Computing at the University of Hertfordshire, however it became clear that this was not my chief calling.

I studied Illustration and Graphic Design at Loughborough College of Art and Design, although it was at home that I began to experiment with computer generated animations. A field that presents many opportunities for me to express my artistic style; as well as the challenges involved in becoming proficient in such a broad and rapidly expanding field.

About My Work

I specialise primarily in hard surface modelling, vehicles and architectural visualisation.

Many of my models are available to purchase for royalty free use from either CGTrader (.fbx, .obj and .blend formats) or BlenderMarket (.blend only) - see the 'Commercial Work' page for details.  I am available for freelance work and can be contacted through either of those sites or through the details on the 'Contact' page.

The older animations - prior to 2015 - were created with Lightwave but a few years ago I switched to using Blender and now use that almost exclusively for all aspects of modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering.  Along with Photoshop for creating/editing texture maps.
